You DON'T Need:
- ❌Rulebooks (DM has everything)

- ❌Miniatures/Maps (DM provides if used)
- ❌Previous experience (that's why it's a beginner session!)
- ❌Fantasy knowledge (DM explains everything)
Your Fears (And Why Not to Worry)
What if I don't know what to do?
The DM will guide you. They'll say things like: "You see three doors. What do you want to do?" No rush. Other players help with ideas too.
What if other players are mean?
Look for sessions marked "beginner-friendly" and DMs with high reviews. These DMs curate the atmosphere. If someone is rude, you can report them.
What if I'm 'bad' at roleplay?
There's no such thing as being bad. Some players only state actions ("I open the door"). Others act more. BOTH are fine. Nobody will judge you.
What if I slow down the game?
Good DMs (especially in beginner sessions) EXPECT questions. They're there to TEACH you. You're not a bother, you're the reason for the session.
What if I don't like my character?
In one-shots, give it a chance. In campaigns, you can talk to the DM. But often, characters grow on you over time.
What if I do something that 'ruins' the story?
Impossible. Good DMs adapt the story to your decisions. There's no script to ruin. Your "mistake" might be the most memorable part of the session.
What if I don't know anyone?
Most sessions are with strangers initially. TTRPGs are amazing for making friends because you collaborate and create stories together.
How to Choose Your First Session
Step 1: Theme that interests you
- Epic fantasy? → Search "High Fantasy", "D&D"
- Mystery/horror? → Search "Call of Cthulhu", "Investigation"
- Modern + magic? → Search "Urban Fantasy", "Modern"
- Science fiction? → Search "Sci-Fi", "Starfinder"
- Not sure? → Choose D&D (most popular, easy to start)
Step 2: Format
- One-shot (recommended for beginners): Complete story in one session
- Mini-campaign (3-5 sessions): If you commit a little
- Long campaign: Better after trying one-shots
Step 3: Language and format
- Spanish or English (choose your comfort)
- Virtual (more options, from home) or in-person (more immersive)
Step 4: Look for these tags/badges
- "Beginners Welcome" or "Beginner-Friendly"
- "Patient with New Players"
- "Rules Explanation Included"
- "Pregenerated Characters Available"
- Reviews 4.5+ stars
Step 5: Read the description
- Does it mention "for beginners"? Good sign.
- Does it describe what to expect? Organized DM.
- Friendly tone? Probably good atmosphere.
